Brand Sustainability

As a sustainable fashion enthusiast, I knew starting my brand that sustainability would be at the forefront of my design process.

I think transparency and traceability is so important so here is an insight into my process and materials that I use to make my designs.

The Patchwork Hoodie

The base of this hoodie is made using 100% organic cotton from Organic Textile Company.

The origin of cotton is Aegean region of Turkey.

Every farm, spinning house, knitting house, dying house and even the warehouse that it is packed in are all GOTS certified.

GOTS - Global Organic Textile Standard, every single step of production must meet strict rules such as: waste control, treat wastewater, avoid toxic chemicals, heavy metal dyes and harmful bleaches, workers must receive fair wages, work in safe working conditions and no forced or child labor.

Once I receive the fabric, I make the garment from start to finish in my home studio using organic cotton thread on my regular machine (also supplied from Organic Textile Company) and 100% recycled polyester Gutterman thread for my overlocker.

The appliques are made using fabric scraps and leftovers from previous projects to stop that fabric from going to waste as I often don’t have enough left over to make a whole garment. The composition of these fabrics varies, with fabrics such as polycotton, cotton, linen, viscose. I am aware that not all these fabrics are made from 100% natural fibres, however, they are fabrics I already had and felt it was better to use them for something that I knew would last, rather that them being thrown away.
